Periodically throughout the semester, I will offer opportunities to earn extra credit points toward your final grade. You can find them listed here and I will mention them in class as well.
Revision Agenda
If you meet with a tutor at the Learning Resource Center and complete this Revision Agenda, you can earn up to five extra credit points on each formal paper assignment.
Norco Read 2 Succeed Events
From the Library:
"Read 2 Succeed @ Norco College is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, community, etc., to read a book in common and then get together to discuss it, and if possible, bring the author to speak here on campus. This fall semester we are reading and discussing What It Is Like To Go To War by Karl Marlantes. Our first interactive book discussion event of the semester will take place this Thursday, September 25 from 12:50-1:50 pm in CSS 217. You do not have to have read the book to attend the book discussion event and/or to participate in the discussion. Just feel free to come and enjoy the fun! We will also have a Distinguished Vietnam Combat Veteran speaker, Dave Roever, here on Thursday, October 30 from 12:30- 2:30 pm in CSS 217. Dave will share a presentation entitled “From Tragedy to Triumph” and be available to sign copies of his books which will be provided! In addition, the Norco College Veterans Club will present a Student Veteran Panel on Thursday, November 20 from 12:50-1:50 pm in CSS 217!"
Extra Credit Opportunity:
If you attend one of these events and write up a short response (minimum 200 words) linking an aspect of the presentation to some of the issues we have discussed in class, you can turn it in for up to five extra credit points toward your final grade. For example, you might write about veterans as a discourse community, or you might rhetorically analyze one of the speaker's talks. This opportunity is limited to ONE RESPONSE; though you are more than welcome to attend all three events, you will only receive points for one written response.
Literacy Narrative Redux
If you edit your literacy narrative and address the comments that I gave you, you can upload a revised version of your paper to our Shared Dropbox folder. Remember that everyone will have access to your narrative at that point.
Please email me if you need another link to the shared folder.
